Pronao

The pronaos, or prodrome is a part of greek and roman temple, lodged in the temple area in front of the cell. The pronaos was constituted by the prolongation of the side walls of the cell, ending with pillars, between which there were two columns, while in other types Templars formed an entrance hall colonnade.
The construction of the Pantheon was a masterpiece of engineering, where the architectural idea was well interpreted with a technical approach empirically. The perfectly spherical space gives the viewer a feeling of great harmony, the insertion of a large round room behind the portico of a classical temple is unprecedented in the ancient world.

You have framed this portico perfectly with a perfect arrow cutting into the sky Fabrizio… i had a tour of the Pantheon and out guide mentioned that the columns are not vertical… they are spaced differently across the top which makes them look straight….peter/pietro:)

I know we have the Greeks to thank for democracy, but another great contribution is architectural columns.

Their regular soaring heights leading to the portico is superb, a great shot Fabrizio.
